Nikon D3300 arrived

A new technical gadget in my arsenal arrived yesterday: The Nikon D3300 with lens kit (18-55mm). After some problems with the software (the software bundle delivers an older version which claims to be the newest version, but there is a newer one available on the website) and some driver problems (Win7 PnP drivers are not compatible with the camera it seems) I finally got the camera connected to my PC (thanks to the support forums).

And I began to do some test shooting with the standard setting and the first tests with the lens kit. For me the difference between our old Powershot (10 years old now) and my mobile camera is insane. With some easy positioning and using the lenses I get the blurry backgrounds and with that the depths of better pictures.

Couldn't resist to test that on my cats:

Loki

Odin

Very cool indeed!

So I started to start with a short session for the Shadows of Brimstone boxes. The article will soon come.
I am also testing how I can get some nice WIP pictures of miniatures. And my photo box will now also come into usage because NOW it makes sense to use it ;)

So long,
Paradox0n

  1. Your kitties are so pretty. I love the look on Loki's face. It's as if he's saying "I am superior to you for I am a cat.' Now do my bidding, puny human."

Congratulations on getting the camera. Looking forward to seeing how well it shoots your mini's.

    1. Exactly! Problem is that they are also big. Friend already said: "Your TV is to small or your cats too big". 10 kilos of catness each... And they are not fat they are pretty slim :)

  3. The nikon is a great piece of kit. I'd highly recommend picking up a prime lens in 35mm (F1.8). It's great for portraits, and mini's with a tripod. Once you get used to the prime lens, you'll wonder why you used anything else!

    1. Thanks Greg. Have to see what I will do with lenses. ATM I am testing around what you could achieve with a DSLR and most likely I will buy a 70-300mm first. Since we are hiking a lot, this would be more useful for us :)

    1. First I have learn to paint at a decent level :)
But the pipctures of the cats and all pictures of my unboxing post are done with the Nikon. Not comparable to the pictures with my old cameras.

    2. Decent level is all down to personal opinion.. would love to see more of your works on here. They are the "decent' level to me :D Looking forward to the reviews/unboxings also. Am doing more of them myself these days ( about time! )

    3. I am on it (with the painting). ATM I am doing 2 testminis for the skin color.

The first unboxing is published but it seems noone sees it. Very strange...
